How Loop Scheduling Works
When Posts Go Out
Copy Company checks your loop schedules every minute. When the current day and time match one of your loop’s schedules, the next item in the rotation is picked up and published. If you have multiple schedules that fire at the same time, each one triggers independently.
Timezone Awareness
All schedule times are evaluated in your brand’s timezone. If your brand is set to Eastern Time and you schedule a post for 9:00 AM, it will be posted at 9:00 AM Eastern regardless of where Copy Company’s servers are located. You can update your timezone in Settings → Brand.
Position Tracking and Cycling
Each loop tracks its current position — which item in the list is next to be posted. When an item is posted successfully, the position advances to the next item. When the loop reaches the end of the list, it resets to the first item and a new cycle begins.
You can see the loop’s current position, total cycles completed, and each item’s individual post count on the loop detail page.
What Happens When a Loop Posts
When a schedule fires, here’s what happens behind the scenes:
- The loop retrieves the next item based on its current position.
- The item is checked against each target platform’s requirements (media, character limits, etc.).
- For each platform the item qualifies for, a new social post is created and sent to that platform for publishing.
- If at least one platform publishes successfully, the loop advances to the next position and the item’s “times posted” counter increases.
Tracking Performance
- Cycles completed — How many times the loop has gone through all its items from start to finish.
- Times posted (per item) — How many times each individual item has been published. Items at the top of the loop may have a higher count than those at the bottom.
- Last posted at — The most recent time the loop published an item.
Troubleshooting
Items skipped due to platform requirements
If an item doesn’t meet a platform’s requirements (e.g. no image for Instagram), it will be skipped for that platform but may still post to others. Check the item’s platform qualification on the loop detail page to see what’s missing.
Loop not posting
If your loop isn’t posting as expected, check the following:
- Make sure the loop is active (not paused).
- Verify the loop has at least one item and one schedule.
- Confirm your brand’s timezone is set correctly.
- Check that your social accounts are still connected in Settings → Social Connections.
